Fordite - Rhodium, Tycoon Rollerball Pen

This is a custom Rhodium, Tycoon Rollerball pen that I made on my lathe using a piece of fordite. 

Fordite, also known as Detroit agate or Motor City agate, is old automotive paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. 

It was formed from the buildup of layers of enamel paint slag on tracks and skids on which cars were hand spray-painted (a now automated process), which have been baked numerous times.

It was worked on my lathe and finished with 10 coats of CA glue which was then wet sanded to a high gloss shine. This one is a true one of a kind that was slightly difficult to make due to it being thin layers of paint.
